Andy’s past projects within Indonesia

Andy has completed seven construction projects over the past 16 years in Indonesia. In addition, he has renovated sailboats, apartments, and houses in Australia, gaining extensive hands-on experience in a wide range of construction work. He also offers valuable legal and marketing advice and direction, adding further depth to his project support. Below is a timeline showcasing his building experience in Indonesia. With Andy leading your project, you're in very capable hands—he brings not only technical expertise but also strong local connections across Indonesia, ensuring smooth execution and reliable support every step of the way.

  • Aura Surf Resort

Aura Surf Resort was Andy’s first major project, built in 2009 in partnership with his longtime friend and former business partner, Dean Hammer. The resort officially opened in 2010 and quickly gained international recognition, hosting thousands of guests over the years. It became a frequent location for professional photo shoots, surf films, and magazine covers. During his time as co-owner, Andy also served as the lead surf guide for many of these high-profile surfers. He sold the resort in 2017. Today, Aura Surf Resort remains fully operational and is consistently rated among the best surf destinations in the world.

  • Simeulue Board Riders

SBR is a private surf retreat located adjacent to Aura Surf Resort. The project features two spacious luxury bungalows along with a central building that houses the restaurant, kitchen, and relaxation area. Andy led the construction of the retreat around 2010–2011, overseeing all aspects of the build. The property is owned by a group of like-minded individuals who continue to enjoy it regularly with their friends and family.

  • Uncles

Located just 200 meters south of Aura Surf Resort is another private surf retreat known as Uncles. Built by Andy and his team around 2013, the project follows a similar layout to SBR, featuring two spacious bungalows and a large central structure that includes a restaurant, kitchen, and relaxation area.

  • Nalu Mentawai

In 2017, after selling Aura Surf Resort and closing a memorable chapter on Simeulue, Andy set his sights on the world-famous Mentawai Islands. On remote Awera Island, he purchased a piece of land and personally built Nalu—a private surf retreat deep in the jungle. Andy lived in a tent for 12 months while doing the majority of the construction work himself in this rugged, isolated environment.

Nalu consists of a large bungalow with a loft that sleeps up to six people, along with separate bathroom facilities, a kitchen, chill-out areas, and staff quarters. The retreat was also equipped with two speedboats—one of which Andy shipped from Bali to Padang before personally piloting it 150 kilometers through a violent storm to the island. He was lucky to make it through alive.

  • Gym Juice Yoga

While still owning Nalu, Andy expanded his footprint in Indonesia by constructing a commercial property near Dreamland Beach in Bali. The space became home to Gym Juice Yoga—a vibrant fitness hub featuring a large gym area, boxing classes, yoga sessions, and a fully functional health food and juice bar. The complete fit-out took approximately three months before the facility opened to the public.

The business attracted a steady flow of customers and gained strong visibility through the support of various social influencers. This project further cemented Andy’s presence in the Indonesian and Bali property scene. Built around 2019, the property was successfully sold two years later.

  • Launch Pad Amed Bali

Launch Pad, located in Amed, East Bali, was one of Andy’s most unique and ambitious projects. He designed and built a striking two-story house in the shape of a diamond, complete with an internal bridge and a blend of materials including concrete, tile, hardwood, and bamboo. The precision and creativity of the construction drew many visitors who came to marvel at its bold and distinctive design.

The property also featured two additional large, uniquely styled bungalows, a fully equipped standalone resort-style kitchen, and an open-air restaurant with a rooftop platform that hosted yoga classes three times per week. To top it off, Andy built a serious freestyle slope-style bike track, which quickly gained recognition in Bali’s biking and BMX communities.

Launch Pad operated as a yoga, health, trekking, and mountain bike retreat. Despite being built and sold during the COVID period, the project remained unaffected in both performance and sale process. This marked Andy’s sixth completed project in Indonesia.

The Ridge Surf Lodge

No introduction needed—The Ridge Surf Lodge is Andy’s seventh project in Indonesia, and without question, his personal favorite. Returning to the jungle and surrounded by nature, this project embodies everything he loves: tranquility, simplicity, and proximity to world-class waves.

With easy access to construction materials, warm and welcoming locals, and a setting that words can hardly do justice, The Ridge stands out as a truly special achievement. This is more than just a surf lodge—it’s a reflection of years of experience, deep local knowledge, and a genuine love for the land and lifestyle. It will be hard to top.
